So, you own a company and you are happily using a non .com domain name for your website. Things are going relatively well, and you are thinking about getting the matching .com domain, but it's owned by someone else. Should you really put an effort to get the .com?
Well, it depends. First of all, why do you need the .com at all? May be it's OK to use alternative extension, or maybe it's better to  add some suffix or prefix  to domain name and be done with it? You can do this, but you get a significant downside: the trust issue. Why so?

Your domain name is the first thing your client sees when he visits your website, or sees the matching result in google. If the domain name matches your company name, it's professional and memorable, then you instantly become a trustworthy and credible company in the eyes of your client.

Professional name means a professional company worth doing business with. Thats' it. It's all about trust. If you are planning to expand your business, trust is your major issue. If you are using a non-professional domain name, then the majority of your potential clients will instantly assume that your company is temporary and not serious, so they would not even speak to you. Trust is everything these days, so you have to look trustworthy. It does not matter if your services are best in the world if you have a bad name. Most of your potential clients wouldn't sign up for your services anyway. What does it mean for your business? It means that your business is destined to fail if you are not using a professional and memorable .com domain.

That's it: the whole business can fail because of bad domain name, even if your services are best.
